Good to know there's a new product that's certified, environment-friendly and will prevent too much erosion. Good news for those in the landscaping business.

Agree. Landscaping shouldn't just be all about trees and plants and flower. Wildlife should always be considered--which of them to invite and which to keep out.

How true. Arbors (also called pergolas in other places) does give the landscape or garden a unique dimension. I like what you said about it being a portal and also that it can be a momma's secret (or not so secret) hideaway when the house chores becomes a bit too much. Very good post. Loved it.

In every sense, arbors offer limitless opportunities to personalize a project. Years ago, our family business used an incredible, handmade rustic arbor made from heavy vines in a garden show. The attendees were ecstatic with it! A truly awesome piece and definetly out of the ordinary :-)

June 21, 2011
Hello,
I read about Amsonia hubrichtii today and am excited about it. However, I live in West Fargo, ND and we have pretty cold winters. Your website says it's OK in Zone 4 and I can handle that but I checked several websites and I have seen that it is only hardy to Zone 6!!? Can anybody verify this? I did see that it is grown in St. Paul, Mn. but I saw none in North Dakota.
Thank you, Mike Kiernan

Thanks, Susan. It makes taking advantage of what's blooming today without having had to worry about it in the fall.
